This position is covered by AFGE bargaining unit. Per the AFGE Master Agreement, the Area of Consideration will be:

Applies electrical and mechanical practices for repair and maintenance of engineering equipment; Interpreting parts lists, manufacturers repair manuals diagrams and electrical schematics; Troubleshoots equipment failure; Determines methods and techniques to solve repairs and installations; Performs electrical maintenance, overhauls and repairs of a variety of equipment, i.e. distribution panels, circuit breakers PLC, VFDs, fixtures and control circuits; Modifies and installs electrical equipment; Applies electrical and mechanical theory to troubleshoot with or without diagrams, schematics or any written documentation; Uses electrician tools such as testers, meters, hand tools, and safety equipment. Technical Practices (Electrical/Electronic):
Theory and Instruments (Electrical/Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Troubleshooting (Electrical) Troubleshooting (Electronic Equipment) Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and, less often, up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally, incumbent will lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 18 Kilograms. The work is performed both inside and outside. The incumbent is sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 9 meters (30 feet) or more; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
