Examination Technician, NB-503-III/IV

The following are the duties of an Examination Technician at the NB-IV. If you are selected at a lower band level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.Provide assistance to examiners during the planning stage, and while conducting portions of midsize and community bank examinations.Conduct research of laws and regulations to prepare for bank examinations and other bank supervision-related assignments, and search external sources for financial news releases specific to assigned banks.Review and/or track exam work papers, preliminary information for quarterly reviews from databases, loan files, and external sources. Review other agency Reports of Investigation (ROEs) (e.g., Federal Reserve Bank (FRB), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and input findings into supervisory systems.Review audit report findings and ratings to assess effectiveness of audit programs. Provide administrative and technical support for the assigned organization which includes maintaining schedules, arranging meetings; and preparing correspondence, charts, and documents. You must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:
For the NB-III:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-II pay band or GS-3 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
Experience performing financial support functions such as locating and assembling financial information or data, maintaining files and records related to financial transactions or processes, and using financial software to maintain and compile information.ORYou may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
You must have four years of education above the high school level in any field obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, college or university.ORYou must have an equivalent combination of experience and education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.For the NB-IV:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-III pay band or GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
Researching, assembling, and analyzing financial data to validate financial statements or reports; AndProcessing financial transactions, creating and maintaining financial spreadsheets/accounts, and resolving discrepancies;OROne full year of graduate education meets the requirements where it is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.ORAn equivalent combination of education and experienceThe experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
