BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION FMRP Title: Director of Behavioral Health Reports To: Program Director FTE: 0.2 (8 hours per week) Basic Purposes: The basic purposes of this position are to develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate all aspects of the Behavioral Medicine and Wellness programs of the Adventist Health Glendale Family Medicine Residency Program. Under the guidance of the Program Director and the Associate Program Director, the Behavioral Health Director will maintain duties dedicated to residency educational and administrative affairs, including, but not limited to: Overseeing the development and integration of a longitudinal Behavioral Medicine Curriculum to ensure all ACGME requirements for resident education in this area are met. This curriculum must be structured so behavioral health is integrated into the residents' total educational experience, to include the physical aspects of patient care. This structured curriculum must include education of the diagnosis, management and coordination for common mental illnesses and behavioral issues in patients of all ages. Designing and implementing resident training experiences to promote professionalism and interpersonal communication competencies. Developing and presenting Behavioral Medicine topics as part of the noon conference series; arrange for guest speakers to teach topics in the curriculum requiring specific areas of expertise - minimum 6 lectures/workshops/year. Video evaluating residents as they see their patients in the office with focus on evaluating and teaching patient centered communication skills and assessment of behavioral health issues. (2-4/resident) Assess residents' interaction and problem-solving skills through direct observation of resident's clinical work and communication. Help residents develop individual education plans to optimize their effectiveness in communication and professionalism. Provide instruction to residents on basic counseling skills such as motivational interviewing. Complete and submit in a timely manner, meaningful evaluations of residents. Leading one Faculty Development Session a year on behavioral health and wellness topics. (Faculty wellness, giving feedback, stress management and avoidance of burnout). Overseeing the Wellness Committee and wellness activities of the program, including promotion of physician wellbeing. Meet with interns monthly for the first 6 months to promote resident Well-being. Regular meetings with residents to evaluate their well-being and provide support. Providing resources for residents and faculty who require mental health evaluation and care. Assisting with recruitment and selection of applicants to the residency program. Assisting in planning and organizing the FMRP annual retreat. Assisting in Orientation of the new first-year residents, assessing areas of professionalism and interpersonal communication. Participating in the intern Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) held each year. Participating on the Professionalism and Academic Remediation Committee (PARC), as needed to assist residents in difficulty. Participating in the monthly Clinical Competency Committee. Mentoring and aiding residents as they work on their required scholarly projects. Conducting scholarly activity according to ACGME requirements, as time permits. Performing additional duties as may be requested Qualifications/Education/Skills: PhD or PsyD in Psychology. Full licensure by the California Board of Psychology. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with residents, medical staff, clinical staff. Demonstrates strong knowledge base. Ability to design, implement, deliver, manage, evaluate and revise curriculum. Demonstrates effective team building skills including empowerment, open communication and flexibility. Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple demands Demonstrates professional standards of ethical behavior. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
